A protein cold foam dirty soda combines clear protein powder mixed into sparkling water with a homemade cold foam poured on top — and this Sherbet Sunrise version uses Rainbow Sherbet Clear Protein for a fruity, dreamsicle-inspired flavor. Mix your protein with citrus sparkling water, add a splash of OJ, then top with a light cold foam made from heavy cream and milk. You get 20g of protein in a refreshing fizzy drink that's ready in under 5 minutes.

Cold foam on a protein drink? Yes, and we're never going back. ☁️

This Sherbet Sunrise Dirty Soda is everything — citrusy, fizzy, creamy on top, and packed with 20g of protein thanks to our Rainbow Sherbet Clear Protein. It's the kind of drink that looks like you ordered it from a trendy café, but you made it in your kitchen in about 5 minutes.

The clear protein base keeps the sparkling water light and bubbly (no chalky protein shake vibes here 🙅‍♀️), while the citrus sparkling water and splash of OJ give it that bright, dreamsicle flavor. The cold foam on top? That's the move. It slowly sinks into the drink as you sip and makes every single sip better than the last.

This is one of our favorite high protein dirty soda recipes for post-workout refreshes, afternoon pick-me-ups, or any time you want something that feels like a treat but actually supports your nutrition goals.

What's the Difference Between a Dirty Soda and a Cold Foam Drink?

Great question! A dirty soda traditionally refers to any sparkling drink with a creamy addition swirled in. A cold foam drink has a frothed milk or cream layer poured on top that floats before slowly sinking. The Sherbet Sunrise is technically both — the cold foam acts as the "dirty" element, just in foam form instead of a swirl. The result is a more dramatic visual effect and a lighter, airier creaminess compared to a standard dirty soda. ✨

How to Make a Protein Cold Foam Dirty Soda

Ingredients

For the drink:
• 1 scoop Buff Chick Rainbow Sherbet Clear Protein
•8 oz grapefruit or blood orange sparkling water (Spindrift is amazing here)
• 1 oz orange juice (a small splash)
• Ice

For the cold foam:
•3 tbsp heavy cream
• 1 tbsp milk
• Pinch of vanilla (optional)

Instructions

Step 1 — Pre-mix your protein. In a small cup or shaker, combine 1 scoop of Rainbow Sherbet Clear Protein with 2–3 oz of citrus sparkling water. Stir until fully dissolved. This prevents excess foam when you add it to the glass.

Step 2 — Build your base. Fill a tall glass with ice. Add the orange juice, then pour in the remaining citrus sparkling water.

Step 3 — Add the protein mix. Pour your pre-mixed protein over the sparkling water. The drink will have a light, pretty pink-orange color. 🍊

Step 4 — Make the cold foam. In a small jar or cup, combine heavy cream, milk, and a pinch of vanilla if using. Froth with a handheld milk frother for 20–30 seconds. You want it light, loose, and pourable — not stiff like whipped cream. Stop when it looks cloudy and foamy.

Step 5 — Pour and serve. Slowly pour the cold foam over the top of the drink. Let it cascade down over the ice. 🌊 Sip through the foam for the full effect and stir lightly as you drink.

Tips for the Perfect Protein Cold Foam

Keep the foam loose. The goal is a pourable, cloudy foam — not stiff peaks. Over-frothing turns it into whipped cream, which won't sink into the drink the same way. 20–30 seconds with a handheld frother is the sweet spot.

Use Spindrift for extra flavor. Spindrift uses real fruit juice in their sparkling water, so the citrus flavor is more pronounced than other brands. Their grapefruit or blood orange flavor is 🤌 with Rainbow Sherbet.

Pre-mix your protein separately. This is the most important step for any clear protein sparkling drink. Mixing dry powder into carbonated water creates too much foam. Mix with a small amount of sparkling water first, let it settle, then add to your glass.

Adjust the OJ to taste. If you want it sweeter, add a bit more OJ. If you want it more tart and citrusy, skip it entirely. The Rainbow Sherbet protein already brings its own sweetness. 🍋

Why Clear Protein Is the Key to a Good Protein Dirty Soda

If you've ever tried to mix regular whey protein into sparkling water, you know it doesn't go well — chalky texture, weird clumps, and it kills all the carbonation. Clear protein (also called clear whey isolate) is formulated to dissolve cleanly into water-based drinks without any of that.

Buff Chick's Rainbow Sherbet Clear Protein has 20g of protein per scoop with a light, fruity flavor that's specifically designed to taste great in drinks like this. It keeps the sparkling water bubbly, the drink light, and lets the cold foam be the star of the show. It's genuinely one of the easiest high protein drink recipes for women who want something fun without sacrificing their goals. 🌈
